Island School 2017 - Day 1
We kicked off the first day at the crack of dawn by snorkeling, even through the seas were murky and rough, we still had fun! Then after breakfast we got a tour of campus and saw all the ways their campus uses sustainable practices. They gave us some pointers on how to improve the sustainability of our own campus. One example was their hydroponics system, where they use tilapia to grow their produce. As a special treat we then got to eat said tilapia for lunch along with more great food. We also learned about coral reef ecology and snorkeled over a beautiful coral outcropping. For dinner we were treated to delicious jerk chicken, rice, and fresh mango juice. To finish of the day off we had a crash course in fish identification. Overall it was a long day, but we all can't wait for tomorrow!
