City of Knowledge

In the middle of our time at City of Child we took an afternoon to go visit another Deep Griha project, City of Knowledge. At City of Knowledge we were given a tour of the project by Ashlesha, the project leader. Ashlesha spoke to us about how City of Knowledge is working to change the way that school is being taught in India by having more interactive classrooms, for example children are encouraged to participate in class, and can do so without fear of harsh discipline from their teachers. Ashlesha also talked about how since City of Knowledge is in a rural area, each class has a plot of land so that the children can gain skills and discover new efficient ways of farming that they share with local farmers.  It was very impressive to see how technologically advanced the classrooms were and how intrigued the students were.
