Trevor Zoo Does Indianapolis - Day 2

The second day of our adventure started the way any great day should start, with a trip to Starbucks. Once our breakfast was finished we made our way to the convention center at which the AZA conference was being hosted. I was relieved to see that the AZA hadn't forgotten about their audience when I noticed an incredibly cute husky named Logan stationed next to the registration booth. After getting our tickets, name tags and petting the dog we posed for a photo shoot. At least we had a cute dog to look at while we tried not to squint into the bright lights of the convention floor. Even though the conference technically had yet to begin there were already plenty of information sessions to visit. Our first two were about new world primate TAG and small carnivores. TAG stands for taxon advisory group which examines the sustainability and conservation needs of a closely related group of species. After some time inside we needed to stretch our legs and headed to the nearby White River State Park. There we found a booth to rent a four person surrey bike and began to tour the city under our own power. We took turns driving while Ms. Bennett was the designated bell ringer. Along the way we took a stop at the Indianapolis Zoo, a place we will revisit on Zoo day, the last day of the conference. On the way back we stopped by the baseball park and learned all about Bull Durham (if you're confused Dr. T will be happy to enlighten you). We returned our surrey and got back to the hotel to get some much needed beauty sleep for the official opening event of the conference. The kickoff icebreaker took place at the Indiana State Museum. After we sat down with our dinner Millbrook alum and former zooie Whitney Webber recognized Dr. T. After catching up with her we headed back to the hotel for a much needed night of sleep.
