Trevor Zoo Does Indianapolis - Day 4

Today started off with another general session in the main hall. Today's session was about AZA's conservation efforts and youth engagement. Following the general session we split up to go visit smaller sessions about animal welfare and volunteer programs. Lunch was hosted in the main hall and included all attendees. The lunch was to recognize the achievements of other zoos and professionals. After the lunch we split up again to see smaller sessions. In keeping with my cross country team spirit Dr. T and I went for a three mile run in Indianapolis. Upon our return we found out that the hotel elevator had been shut down and we had to jog up 19 flights of stairs to get back to our hotel room. Once we had returned we joined Tiffany and Ms. Bennett to go the the show floor. On the show floor many students were presenting their research on various topics relating to animals. Simultaneously, a silent auction was taking place. Dr. T and I won a sweet collection of ties from former Riverbanks Zoo president Satch Krantz. Meanwhile, Ms. Bennett won a book on zoo keeping and jewelry. On our way out of the conference we crossed paths with AZA president and CEO Dan Ashe, who was kind enough to pose for a photo with us. Following our victories we ended the day with a big meal of seven layer chocolate cakes (among other, less important, food items). We are anticipating for tomorrow to be our most exciting day yet, as we will be visiting the Indianapolis Zoo!
